One of the Holiest places in Christendom

The Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, has long been a major pilgrimage center for Christians all around the world. The church is a magnificent, spiritual, historical, and archaeological treasure right in the heart of the Holy Land.

Christian pilgrims often bring with them candles, clothes, crosses, necklaces and mementos of loved when they visit and pray at the Church.

We understand the deep spiritual connection that Christians have to the Holy Land, and particularly to the Church of The Holy Sepulchre. We want to share the beauty and rich tradition of healing with those who are not fortunate enough to be able to make the pilgrimage to the stone and experience it for themselves, by offering beautiful jewelry that has been placed on the holy stone.

History of the Stone of Anointing

After Jesus died on the cross on Calvary, Joseph of Arimathea, a member of the Jewish Sanhedrin, went to Pilate to request permission to take charge of Jesus’ body.

According to the Gospel of John, Nicodemus, the Pharisee who went to Jesus in the cover of night to ask Jesus questions, went with Joseph of Arimathea. They received permission to take possession of the body of Jesus so that they could prepare Him for burial, and placed it on the holy stone.

Because it was getting late on the Day of Preparation and because none of the work of tending to a dead body could be done on the Sabbath, Joseph and Nicodemus placed the body of Christ on the ancient Stone of the Anointing (also called the stone of Unction) and quickly wrapped Jesus’ body in strips of linen and anointed the body with myrrh and aloe, spices and prepared for burial.

“And when they came unto a place called Golgotha….And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed ” Matthew 27: 33, 60

we say in Holysepulchre.gift : “We live in a world that needs hope right now, If we can offer something tangible that reminds people there is hope, then that’s what we must do.”

We hope that by offering you the chance of purchasing some small items of jewelry that have been placed on the stone, you will sense a deeper connection with this holy place and gain further strength and hope from our Lord Jesus Christ
